Collection Summary
These maps were compiled between 1950-51 as part of the process to produce a town plan (realised in 1965). The purpose was to identify current use of land to assist in future zonings. Recorded on the maps are existing businesses and industries, including rural industries such as poultry farms. Business names are sometimes recorded on the maps. Please note, the maps do not cover the whole city area.
These are based on the Brisbane City Council "Key Map" series produced between 1925 and 1927
While no exact colour key exists for these plans, it appears to be similar to that used in the 1965 Town Plan - which is reproduced below (note colours will have faded over time, and not all keys are used in this series.)
